Web Hosting With SSH Access
Are You Needing Web Hosting with SSH Access
Are You Wanting Full Control over Your Website with Secure Shell Access mes Whether you are an advanced website developer, or simply desire greater control, SSH (Secure Shell) access can give you just that. Allowing remote command line login into a server via SSH gives more options than FTP while being more secure against password sniffing or other potentially sensitive information being exposed by using it over FTP.
Why Is SSH Superior? SSH stands apart from other remote access protocols by using one public/private pair to encrypt and verify all connections, unlike TLS which uses multiple public/private key pairs for authentication of connections. This ensures that anyone listening in would only see encrypted data, while with TLS they would have had the potential to steal your login credentials and gain control over your device.
To log-in via SSH, a client program such as Terminal on Mac or PuTTy on Windows will be needed. After installing them, simply enter your host name or IP address, choose SSH as your connection type and press Open; once connected you should see an identical command prompt on your local computer to what would appear on an actual Linux server.
Please keep in mind that direct SSH access should only be undertaken by advanced users with an understanding of what they’re doing. If in doubt, FTP or File Manager might be better. We have also put together a handy guide for getting started with SSH on our VPS servers; should any queries arise please reach out to Customer Support who’ll be more than happy to assist!
